GenePOC is born from a dream of Dr. G. Michel Bergeron, director of the Infectious Diseases Research Centre of Laval University in Québec city, Canada and scientist of international recognition. In 1995, he created the Infectio Diagnostic Inc (IDI), a start-up held by the University of Laval, and started to develop and commercialize the first FDA approved real-time PCR assay for the detection of Group B streptococcus (GBS) in one hour instead of 48-72h with culture.
From this time, several companies and technologies have raised and proposed molecular diagnostics solutions for infectious diseases. However, the need for more rapid, reliable results and, simplified workflows is still unmet.
In 2008, GenePOC Inc. was created to pursue this worldwide diagnostic revolution with the aim to bring the lab closest to the patient. Today, GenePOC offers easy-to-use and precise molecular test for infectious diseases diagnostic.
